Birnam Institute Players

Birnam Institute Players

BIPS meet from September to May on Mondays at 7.30pm.

They work on 2 to 3 productions per year as well as entering the SCDA One Act play festival in February. They welcome with open arms anyone with an interest in all aspects of theatre and performing.

Just Singin'

Wednesdays, 7.30pm–9.30pm

Led by acclaimed Scottish singer Christine Kydd. Even if you think you can’t sing, but always wanted to, this is the class for you. All are welcome; no previous experience necessary. For more details contact Jen 01738 623949.




Ceramic Classes

A class for anyone with an interest in
hand-building with clay: beginners and intermediates can learn to use a range of techniques to create either functional or sculptural ceramics, using a range of different clays and glazes.

Materials and firings included.




Arty Kids (P4-P7)

Wednesdays, 4pm–5pm

A term time, hands-on childrens’ art class, led by Catriona Mackay. Participants will have the chance to use a range of
materials and try exciting projects, which will be displayed around the building.





Book Binding

Wednesdays, 10am-12.30pm

Starting back in October 2009

Our Book-Binding workshop will teach give you the change to learn a variety of book binding techniques. Participants will be asked to asked to bring along a book they are happy to pull apart and repair.

There is a £10 material fee for this course.

Silver-Smithing

Wednesdays, 7pm-9pm

Our Silver-Smithing class teaches a range of techniques used in jewellery design, including texture, form and design.

All previous participants have created unique pieces of wearable jewellery.

The Ballet School offers graded tuition for ages 4 and up.

Birnam Arts Ballet school also offers adult ballet classes for gentleexercise and poise. Great for beginners.

Guitar for Beginners

£5 per session ➤ payable by the term This class proved so popular we've included an extra session, both aimed at beginners. Tutor Jim Farrell will teach you how to play simple melodies and the basics of reading music for the guitar. Please bring your own acoustic guitar with you. Juice and biscuits will be provided in the middle of the lesson to give your hands a short break!

Punch your way to fitness with Box Fit. Boxercise instructor Stuart Flatley will take a fitness class for people who want to get box fit – without getting hit (much)! Using exercises and techniques straight out of the boxing gym, such as pad work and circuit training, this class is the perfect way to improve fitness.
